New Research Makes It More Important To Quit

There is disturbing new information about the effects of smoking while pregnant that can extend deep into your child's adolescence.

Many new moms who smoked while they were pregnant see what they think is a "normal" newborn and breathe a sigh of relief… not so anymore. Problems have been showing up especially at toddler age, and also as late as the teen years.

For all of the health problems listed in this section, there are research studies that show there is a correlation to moms who smoked while pregnant, compared to moms who didn't.

It's important to quit smoking while you're pregnant to give your child the best chance at better health - for his or her entire lifetime. However, it's also critical to not smoke while your child is growing up. Smoking in your home, in the car while your child is nearby is like forcing him or her to smoke without having a say.
